New Year, New Goals!

Tuesday, December 31, 2013

I like to give myself "goals" for the new year instead of "resolutions. There are six things that I want to do more of in 2014 (it's about to get a little personal)!
1. More "me time"
I tend to take on so much with school, extra curricular activities, and work that I rarely make time for myself. Consequentially, it stresses me out. So much so that I have regular panic attacks (something I've been working on for months to control). My goal for the new year is to relax whenever I am down time to keep myself calm and centered.

2. Be healthy and happy
This year's busy schedule has caused me to neglect my love of exercise. Living just blocks from the lake, my goal is to get back to my regular running schedule on the Lake Michigan running path.

3. More time for loved ones
School and work are important, but the most important thing in life are loved ones. Family and friends are so important to me and I want to make more time for them in 2014. I want to do this by taking more trips home to Michigan to see family and hosting more "girls' nights in" with my Chicago friends.

4. Do more yoga!
Yoga has been a great tool for me to manage the anxiety disorder I developed this year. It truly is the best medicine! My goal this year is to find a new yoga studio near my apartment and go to yoga once a week to maintain all the progress I've made.

5. Becoming financially fit
Graduating is very exciting, by the pressure of paying off student loans is looming over me. I hope to start saving up more money each month so I can start making payments on my loans ASAP! Also, sticking to my budget is a must this year (I need to cut down on the online shopping)!

6. Blog every day (or try!)
My dream is to blog all day every day. Unfortunately, real life gets in the way and sometimes I need to step back from my blog. My goal this year is to becoming more organized with my content and have a post ready every day for you all!

Those are my goals for 2014! If you have the same or a similar goal, let me know how you plan to achieve it! Have a wonderful New Years Eve, everyone!

  1. These are all great goals to have Carly. I think we should all add "more me time"!

  2. An FYI, for yoga in Chicago I really love Spring Wellness Center http://springwellnesschicago.com/, especially Jill's classes. They have two studios, one in Lakeview and one in North Center. Whenever possible I take her classes!

  4. I love these goals, Carly. I want to take better control of my finances too! One thing my credit union does are sub-accounts, so I opened one of those to start throwing money into. It's been kind of crazy how I forget it's even there! And it's definitely helping me reign in my spending.

I'm also paying off student loans. One thing I've been doing is paying more each month than is actually due so I can pay it off that much sooner!

  9. We definitely share similar goals! Mine this year are to grow in my personal relationship with Christ, get to a place where I am happy with who I am and what I look like, get my health back together, put at least $20 a month in my savings account, do more hot yoga/yoga, and do one thing a month for someone who will never be able to pay me back!

  10. I love all of these and can definitely relate! I've been thinking about trying yoga to strengthen both body and mind! I've also come to the conclusion that I need to get in a better place financially... something I'll also definitely be working on.

And to blog every day? A goal that I always have and I'll do really well for a month, then fall off for a month. I think consistency is what I need to work on.

good luck and keep us updated on how these goal go, any tips, etc!
