Casual Fall Engagement Photos

Thursday, September 3, 2015

To accompany our rust chic barn wedding, Devin and I have decided to take some casual fall engagement photos at the property where we'll be married. We know we want two outfits: one very comfy casual and one more dressy. We're still figuring out the dressier look, but here's what we're thinking for our casual look:

I was very much inspired by these engagement photos I found on Pinterest

Thoughts on our casual looks? If you took more casual, fall engagement photos, what did you wear? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. Those outfits looks great! And I really love that last inspiration pic with the blanket... what an awesome prop.

We did ours in early fall, so it was still too warm for the really cozy looking outfits, but I wore a plaid shirt/jeans/boots, and he wore a gray polo and jeans. It worked out pretty well, but if I had to do it over I would probably have put him in a sweater (weather be damned) and accessorized better.

    1. Thanks for your comment, Jess! We're taking our photos October 2 and I'm hoping it will be cool enough for sweaters! We are going to incorporate a cool plaid blanket in our photos. Fingers crossed the weather will behave!

  2. We did a more dressy summer shoot, but I love your outfit picks! The plaid blanket in the last picture also gives a great effect! Fall is such a gorgeous time for pictures :)

  3. I'm 16, not getting married anytime soon but, let me just say that those outfits look great for a fall shoot and the season in general!

  4. Very cute! We took casual fall engagement photos too on our university's campus. I wore last year's J.Crew mixed media sweater (maroon and navy stripe) with dark wash jeans and brown riding boots. My husband went with a 1/4 zip pullover (Central Michigan University) and jeans. We shot in mid-October!
