How To De-Pot and Organize Your Makeup

Tuesday, September 8, 2015

A few weeks ago I was looking underneath my bathroom sink and was so embarrassed at the number of blushes, eyeshadows, and other various palettes I had hiding under my sink. There were three tubs filled with makeup just waiting to be rediscovered. The simplest way to bring these beauties back to life? De-pot all your makeup and put it into a Z Palette!

In my large Z Palette, I've de-potted a Lorac Pro eyeshadow palette (square), a NARS eyeshadow palette (rectangle - discontinued), a NARS Orgasm and Angelika blush, and a Too Faced Bonjour Soleil bronzing palette. My Makeup Geek foiled eyeshadows (circular) came de-potted!

I didn't take photos while de-potting my makeup (frankly because I was trying not to stab myself!) and I could write a long step-by-step process, but I'll just share the awesome YouTube video I watched!

WHAT YOU'LL NEED
A letter opener
Tweezers
Lighter
Paper Towel (to stay tidy!)

Please please PLEASE be careful if you decided to de-pot your powdered products. Take your time so you don't accidentally burn or cut yourself! I would practice on a product that you wouldn't make entirely sad if it broke. Practice makes perfect!

Good luck and happy organizing!
