Mitten Life Update

We've been back in Michigan for just over 6 weeks, and we couldn't be happier. We've been catching up on much-needed family time and prepping our new home for some upcoming Chicago visitors. 

As most of my Twitter followers know, I left my "glamorous" ad agency job in Chicago for a new position in Meijer's marketing department. Not going to lie, I was nervous about the transition from the wild agency life to a traditional corporate life. Thankfully, Meijer's culture has the perfect balance between casual and  professional. I've only been here for a month, but I'm absolutely loving what I do - so happy that I even look forward to telling people about what I do (after hours)! And, there's a my office building...steps from my desk. I'm in heaven. 

We're getting some much needed family (and puppy) time. 

Devin, my husband, opened a restaurant here in Grand Rapids, and it's been a tremendous success. Our biggest concern for him was a downgrade in food scene from Chicago to GR. But we've been pleasantly surprised with the cuisine offerings in The Mitten. His new restaurant focuses on whiskey and meat (can't go wrong there), and I light up with pride when I see him running the kitchen like a boss. Many of you have been asking for a new apartment tour and we're working on it! Our apartment is actually still bare at the moment as our couch has been SUPER delayed in its delivery (don't get me started with Wayfair). Once it actually looks like human beings live there, you know I'll share some photos of our new home. For now, this is our furniture sitch....

I know this was a quick update, but just wanted to let you all know we're ecstatic where we are and the future is looking so so bright!
